Since childhood, I have always been in love with the Curious George books and stories, and when I heard that a movie was being released I was thrilled, of course. I saw it three weeks before it came out, since I was working at a movie theatre at the time.
I loved it, the story is fun, and tends to stick towards the original feel of the books. The sound cast, lead by Will Farrell (voice of Ted, the man in the yellow hat), Drew Barrymore (his love interest), and David Cross is very well done. The animation is bright, and colorful, and suprisingly very well conceived, though 20 percent of it is CGI assisted and can be a bit disorienting at times. The soundtrack is also brilliant, with songs by Jack Johnson, whom I hadn't really been a fan of til this movie. I actually enjoyed the music so much, I picked up the soundtrack, which is something I have not done in years.
I as always, picked up the dvd on day one. The disc is more so geared towards kids, but is full of good features. Including many deleted scenes (15 actually), a music video (Upside Down by Jack Johnson), a draw George segment, and clips of the animation in progress. The transfer and presentation are great quality, so over-all, for a one disc-er, i would rate this one an B+.
