Post Ninety Seven - The March

WASHINGTON - Convinced this is their moment, tens of thousands marched Saturday in an anti-war demonstration linking military families, ordinary people and an icon of the Vietnam protest movement in a spirited call to get out of Iraq. (The Rest here, here, here, or here)

While it was definately worth going, and I enjoyed myself...I was a bit dissopointed by the outcome of the March. I am not trying to sound like a pessimist or anything, but I was expecting hundreds of thousands, milliions, and only tens of thousands came. Everyone held cookie cutter signs, chanted annoying phrases (what does democracy look like? this is what democracy looks like!), and the scene was overall chaotic because the parade route was not really set, and people were going every where.

Although alot of the people there seemed to be doing it cause in reality it's the "in thing" to do right now, I can honestly say that I met many very nice, and politically like-minded people whom I held great conversations with, including a woman from north Jersey, whom witnessed 9/11. I even made a friend, a kid from Boston, I met on the train into D.C.

Over-all, a good day with friends, and a beautiful day weather wise, in our nations capitol. Probably my last adventure of any sense before my trip to Italy, which is creeping up on my very quickly.

Post Ninety Six - Jan 27th, DC

In honor of all of our fallen brothers and sisters, TWENTY FOUR OF WHICH DIED TODAY, join the thousands of us, next Saturday in the March on Washington D.C.

Let's all make our voices heard to both sides of the political paradigm in Washington. The Dem's whom were put in office to make a difference, and take us out of this war, are obviously not living up to their promises. Halliburton and Dyncore are far more important to them than the words of their own constituents, so we must speak louder and make our voices known.

Wake up America.

Where: The National Mall, Washington D.C
When: Saturday January 27th, Noon

Post Ninety Four - Treasure!

So, everyone knows I am a dork for DVDs, and more importantly, classic Disney DVDs...

According to many sources, my favorite of all DVD collections is halting before it is completed, after a 6 year run. Yeah, you heard me, no more Walt Disney Treasures.

I wrote Dick Cook, head of the Walt Disney Studios. That's honestly how much these DVDs mean to me. I sincerely hope they don't cancel them. For Real.

Post Ninety Three - POTC3AWE

Now on a lighter note...behold!

DROOL! My most anticipated movie of 2007, by far.

Post Ninety Two - Bush Speech

I rushed home last night, from laundry, to watch W's speech on his implementation of 21,000 thousands more of our brothers and sisters to Iraq, something I strongly disagree with.

My thoughts about said speech are only of disgust. More Iraqi's will die, more will lose limbs, more will live in starvation. Our troops, will continue to die, be maimed, and suffer due to lack of funding for them when they arrive home disabled.

And all for what? Corporate profits and world domination.

And the Republi-crats claim they want our boys and gals out, yet do not take up there constitutional obligation to make a difference in the outcome of our country, and its future. Because they don't really care either, they only have an (monetary) obligation to big corporations who charge each of us as taxpayers 80 dollars a meal each for our troops to eat everyday in Iraq.

We will be paying for this war forever, as will our children, and their children, and their children, and on and on.

Wake up America!

Post Ninety One - ByeBigMac

NEW YORK (AP) -- Mark McGwire's Hall of Fame bid was met with a rejection as emphatic as his upper-deck home runs.

While the door to Cooperstown swung open for Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn on Tuesday, McGwire was picked by less than a quarter of voters -- a result that raises doubts about whether Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa or other sluggers from baseball's Steroids Era will ever gain entry.

McGwire, whose 583 home runs rank seventh on the career list, appeared on 128 of a record 545 ballots in voting released Tuesday by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

"I hope that as time goes on, that number will increase," Gwynn said. "I hope that one day he will get into the Hall of Fame, because I really believe he deserves it."

The 23.5 percent vote McGwire received represented the first referendum on how history will judge an age when bulked-up players came under suspicion of using performance-enhancing drugs. Baseball didn't ban steroids until after the 2002 season.

Post Eighty Nine - Saddam

(I know this is late, but I am back dating it!) Oh Saddam, you are more of a martyr then you could have ever have hoped, and not in a good way by any means.

You were disrespected to the end of your life, by hecklers (something very looked down on in the Islamic religion, to scorn a man before his execution) and not only that, they kill you on the holiest of all Islams holidays.

Saddam didn't cower, or show any fear in his death, even while a crowd of people heckled and insulted him. So he shall in death, look to be a powerful man to his people, and I am sure this will bring more religious strife all throughout the Islamic lands.

I do not condone anything he ever did, he was not a good man, by any means. But I could name a few people in the world who were and are far worse than him.

Post Eighty Eight - Goodbye 06 and the USA

Well after a half month unwanted break from my blog, due to the business of the holidays and everyday life as of late, I am back. At least I hope I am. I will try and start updating daily, or at least a few times a week from now on, when I can. The last few weeks have been crazy, and I do not think I can handle the thought of going over all of it in detail, but I shall try and sum it up shortly:

Florida, was as always, brilliant, and enlightening. I miss my family and friends dearly, and feel the connections to them only grew stronger while on my trip to celebrate my 21st birthday. I got the chance to have one of my first legal drinks with my best friend from childhood, Patrick, a guy I have known since the tender age of 3. That was an event I can definitely say was one of the highlights of my trip.

Disney World was as always, great! I will have some pictures up from that shortly. I did not even nearly drink my way around the world, only having 4 beers and some wine, but none the less, it was fun, despite the chaos of having 10 or so people with me. My brother being there, was definitely a major highlight, it meant the world to me honestly.

I got to go to the Space Coast also, on a day alone with my dad. I loved it, and I think the memory of that day, will stick into my head for a good long time. Not because of where we went, but just because it was the first time I ever felt truly grown up around my father. Goodbye childhood.

I was really sad to leave Florida honestly, unlike I have ever been. I can honestly say, I cried like a little bitch, on the flight home. Next time I go down there, will possibly be June or July, to go to Tortuga, with my dear ol' dad.

So yeah, onto Christmas. I spent that with the misses family, and it was definitely fun. I got alot of the things I wanted. All the Dvd's I could ever wish for, and soon, I'll have my Wii! The misses had a sister in town, so most of the week after Christmas was spent entertaining guest. How Fun.

New Year's was eventful, drunkenness, lots of familiar faces, and joy. Goodbye 2006, you were a great year. I can honestly say, I grew up in many ways during the past year, in all sense of the word. My base of knowledge and understanding of the world has drastically grown and changed, for the better, I don't know.

2007, wow, I am excited and scared, all at the same time. The world seems to get ever more frightening by the day, and the prospects of the new year are not bright, considering we are poised to be in the middle of another war, the possibility of the draft, the possibility of an economic death, possibility of the loss of more of our rights and freedoms as Americans, hell, even the possibility of our loss of American independence, or even our sovereignty.

But hell, through all that, I can look forward to my trip in March to Italy, Montreal in May, Florida again in July, and possibly Austin in the latter months of the year, given I can afford any of it!

God Bless you all, and most of all, God Bless America.
