Post Forty Two - Home Run King

Oh the Phillies, my team for the last three years. Its been rough, as it always has and probably always will be, to be a fan. They have looked good for most of the season, and have arguably two of the best players in baseball, Ryan Howard, and mister Chase Utley.

Ryan Howard, the home run king:

With the legal controversy surrounding the alleged use of performance-enhancing supplements by Sammy Sosa, Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds who combined for six of the eight 60+ home run seasons over a four-year span the North Dakota state Senate passed a resolution in April 2005 urging commissioner Bud Selig to reinstate Roger Maris's 162-game 1961 total as the single-season record. Major League Baseball has taken no action regarding the non-binding resolution.

Howard is currently on pace to hit 61 home runs this season, which would tie Roger Maris's career high. The Maris family has publicly acknowledged that, should Howard finish the season with 62 or more home runs, they will cede the crown to Howard, despite having no authority to do so whatsoever. Major League Baseball still recognizes the record for most home runs in a single season to be held by Barry Bonds, with 73 in 2001, and will not celebrate Howard's 62nd home run should he hit it .

You know what? Screw Sosa, Screw McGuire, and by FAR screw Barrwhinnyey pants Bonds. They are all known users of the roids, and if Ryan Howard makes it to 62, he better get the credit for it.

He deserves it, Philadelphia deserves it.

The Phils are currently tied for the wild-card spot, with ten games left to go. Six of the ten will be played against the Marlins, three against the lowly Nationals, and a make up gamagainstnt those feisty Astros. Let's hope the Dodgers get in a late season slump, and we pull this thing off.

Though even if we don't make the play-offs, this has been a season to remember, and I only regret that I have not seen more games. I will however be going ttonight'sts game, in the chilly cold, and pictures will be up possibly Monday!

Root, Root, Root for them Phillies...
