I now work near the site of the new Comcast Center, and I find it very interesting watching a building grow, especially one which will eclipse all buildings in the skyline that I truly adore.Comcast Center, once billed as One Pennsylvania Place (a more fitting name if you ask me), is set to be the tallest building between New York City and Chicago when it is completed. It will have a Billy-Penn-hating staggering height of 975 feet, eclipsing the former head of the skyline (One Liberty Place) by 30 feet, spire included.
Personally I think the design is kind of bland, though it kind of matches the design of its neighboring building to be. However, I like the choice of location a lot, as it doesn't really block out any significant structures in views of the skyline, if anything, it will fit perfectly from all angles.
Another exciting aspect of the build is an expansion of the city's Suburban Street Station. The underground station is expansive as is, but lacks character or appeal in all senses of it's design. I am much excited to see the improvements.
The building is set to finish in the fall of 2007, so I will be passing by it everyday, and look foward to seeing the birth of this giant.
The Premiership starts tomorrow, PARTY ON!
