Post Twenty Four: Phiraq

I was on one of my numerous breaks today, and sitting outside, when all the sudden, a woman in a crazy blue and yellow dress approached us. She and a soldier were having people sign the Flag of Philadelphia, to be sent to a Philly native serving in Baghdad. I of course, thought the cause nobel, and signed.

I have always been a huge fan of flags, logos, and emblems for some reason, maybe I have a knack for representation. I have never really read about the city flag, but have always admired it, and want to hang one from my new house.

According to Wikipedia: The flag of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania consists of three vertical stripes (blue, yellow, blue), with the city coat of arms across the center of the yellow stripe. The seal and arms were adopted by the city in 1874. The blue and yellow colors commemorate the original Swedish colonization of the site of Philadelphia.

I believe the last part however is incorrect (as some things on wiki-pedia tend to be occasionally), the blue bars represent the rivers that bind the original city grid, the Delaware and Schuylkill respectively. Though, some things have joint meanings flag wise, I have always heard the latter to be true.
