Soccer in the past few months has become my favorite sport, ever. Thanks mostly to the World Cup, and the excitement brought on by all the madness. I have even made many a new friend thanks to my new love of the sport. Hell, in some ways I can attribute my new found love for beer to the World Cup and soccer. And hell, even Jim Noir (whom has an amazing song about soccer). I have begun to play the sport too, which is also, amazingly fun.
At my orientation the other day, I met my new boss...whom is a soccer player and coach. So weird. But I love the way a sport can connect you with other people in ways you would never think possible.
But anyways, I have come to greatly appreciate the sport, and the way and manner it is played. It is very untraditional in the American sense, and maybe that's what I find interesting. I love the way the fans are too, very passionate. When a sport stops a civil war, you knows its significant and unique in the realm of influence and connection to the world.
The world cup will be held in South Africa in 2010, I better start saving.
